Early Life And Influences

Michelangelo Buonarroti, often regarded as one of the most eminent figures of the Italian Renaissance, was born on March 6, 1475, in Caprese, a small town in the Republic of Florence, present-day Tuscany, Italy. From an early age, Michelangelo displayed an innate talent for art, which was nurtured by his family. His father, Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, a minor Florentine official, recognized his son’s potential and encouraged his artistic pursuits.

At the tender age of thirteen, Michelangelo was apprenticed to the renowned painter Domenico Ghirlandaio. Under Ghirlandaio’s tutelage, Michelangelo honed his skills in drawing, painting, and fresco techniques.
